Vice President, Legal Affairs and General Counsel

Because auto dealers often face complex legislative issues, the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association (GNYADA) has engaged Stuart Rosenthal as general counsel and vice president of legal affairs.

Prior to joining the Association in 1995, Rosenthal was an assistant attorney general in the New York State Attorney General's Westchester Regional Office from 1989 to 1995, concentrating on consumer law, consumer credit, and advertising law.

He was director of adjudication, Consumer Advocate, and senior attorney for the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs, from 1979 until 1989.

In 2007, Rosenthal was elected to the Board of Directors of the National Association of Dealer Counsel, a group of nearly 500 attorneys who represent dealers' interests across the country. Rosenthal was a member of New York City Mayor Giuliani's Task Force on Automobile Insurance from 1996-1997. He also served two terms as president of the Board of Trustees of the Pocantico Hills Central School District, where he was a member of the Board from 1994 to 2000. He was also the appointed Deputy Town Supervisor for the Town of Greenburgh (Westchester County).

Rosenthal is a graduate of Hofstra University School of Law (J.D., 1978). He is a member of the Bar of the State of New York, a member of the Federal Bar, Southern District of New York, and a member of the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States.

As general counsel for the GNYADA, Rosenthal regularly provides clear, concise commentary on automotive legal issues for broadcast and print media.
