Dealer Pays Back Local Paramedic

When GNYADA Director Maryann Kolb suffered an aneurysm and stroke last summer, it was a shock. But the experience ultimately led to good things for a local paramedic who helped her during the crisis.

Kolb told West Haverstraw paramedic Clint deBree "If I survive this, you come and see me. If you ever need a car, I'll help you out." Less than a month later, deBree took her up on the offer, and drove home in a new Subaru Impreza, which the dealership provided at cost.

But Kolb wanted to do even more, and made arrangements to help the Haverstraw Volunteer Ambulance Corps, where deBree is a member. Together with GNYADA and the National Automobile Dealers Association Charitable Foundation, she presented the Corps with a full-body Resusci-Anne CPR training mannequin this month.

During the presentation at Kolb's dealership, NY State Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski thanked Kolb and GNYADA for the lifesaving device, and congratulated deBree. The story of Kolb's experience was written in a full-length feature in the Westchester Journal News.
