10th Annual GNYADA Golf Outing

Charity Golf Event Raises $100K

GNYADA’s annual Charity Golf Outing took place Monday August 3, at the Old Westbury Golf & Country Club. More than 400 attendees golfed, dined and donated, through ten hours of great food, fun and recreation. When the day concluded, $100,000 had been raised toward automotive student scholarships, to be distributed through the Association’s Center for Automotive Education & Training.

“Our Charity Golf Outing would not be possible without the support of a great many people and companies,” said GNYADA Board Chairman Robert Vail, addressing attendees the morning of the event. “We thank you, our golfers and sponsors, for your generosity and help in keeping education as a core activity of the Association.” GNYADA started its scholarship program one decade ago, when it first opened the Center. The Association has since raised hundreds of thousands of dollars in student grants.

This year, they distributed $25,000 among five highly deserving automotive technology students. Four of those candidates, including two US Army veterans, are currently enrolled at Lincoln Technical Institute — the fifth, a high school student, was a winner at the 2015 New York Automotive Technology Competition. Thirty-six prizes were also given out to the day’s raffle winners; they included Apple Watch Sports, iPad Airs and a Samsung 65" Smart TV, to name just a select few. Rob Dito of Richards Witt & Charles, LLP took home the grand prize, a Chronomat Breitling watch. The tournament winner for the second straight year, was American Guardian Warranty Services Inc.
